About Coaching

Who needs coaching?

Coaching is for healthy, intelligent and competent people who want some temporary support as they move out of inertia and into action.  Everyone can benefit from coaching, although for each person the experience is one of a kind.  If you are not sure exactly what you want, coaching can help you clarify your vision and get you moving in the right direction.

What does a coach do?

A coach will support you to see yourself honestly, to be accountable and to follow through with plans.  Through breakthroughs and breakdowns we can isolate self sabotaging behaviors and replace them with effective new actions.

What is coaching?

Coaching takes place within a relationship focused on supporting and empowering change in a specific area of life.  It is an action oriented process aimed at getting tangible results through weekly action steps.  Coaching is about breaking through old barriers, noticing how and when breakdowns occur and developing new practices and behaviors.  These changes allow forward momentum to be created which result in an improved way of living.

Coaching involves conversation.  These conversations are distinctive, and unlike the interactions you have with anyone else in your life.  Through these conversations you will experience realizations about your beliefs which will encourage you to look at life from a new perspective.  And, through Inquiry, your perceptions about life will change, releasing you to act from a place of freedom and power.

How does coaching differ from therapy or consulting?

Although coaching and therapy can complement each other, coaching is not therapy.  Therapy focuses on processing past issues and is less action oriented. Coaching is about living in the present and taking action to create magical futures.

Coaching differs from consulting in that coaching is client directed whereas consulting is often consultant directed.  Coaching is about asking questions not about giving advice.  These questions will help you find your own path.

When choosing a coach, what is most important?

More than anything else you must feel safe and connected when sharing time with your coach.  It is important that you feel understood, accepted and free to express your thoughts and feelings.

If you are ready to invest in yourself and commit to making change in your life a reality, I invite you to contact me to set up a sample session so we can get to know one another.
